Rivers and Graduations

This post features student writing.

Today on the first day of July, we focused on our work projects and attended the local school graduation. In the morning we worked on finishing the structure of the garbage hut. In order to do this, we had to pick up more sand as well as cinder blocks. Since today was the hottest yet, we decided to make a trip to the beach. This beach is known as ¨Number 1 Beach.¨ The actual beach is rough and dangerous,  so we swam in a river that fed into the water. We then attended the local Primary school graduation. In Dominica, this is an incredibly exciting experience and event. The children dress in a cap and gown. Although this was a long event, it was still enjoyable. Afterward we went back to our home and had a quick shower, then walked down to the local snackette for a refreshing drink. For dinner we had mac and cheese and chicken, which was a good taste of home. For the rest of the night we are planning on just relaxing. Today was another great day in Dominica!
